Get Smart on Selection: Criteria for Selecting Talent Management Solutions

After the doldrums of an economic slowdown, organizations are reawakening to the need to change:  the Boomers are retiring and Millennials are entering the workplace; highly-skilled talent, especially in STEM areas, is increasingly difficult to find—and even harder to keep; and the software that underpins their human capital management processes is simply not keeping up.

Customers tell us they want something different:  they want software that is more flexible to adapt to the way they do business; they want applications that are integrated so there is only one version of the “truth” about each employee in one talent profile; they seek underlying analytics so they can answer important questions about their workforce, and they want to provide their employees with a stellar user experience that doesn’t impede their productivity or detract from the real work at hand.

But there is more to the story in many of today’s organizations: companies are seeking to go beyond simply supplying software that does the job, albeit modern and snazzy, to creating something more impactful: we call in a “system of engagement.”

This concept surpassed the common issues of “make the task easier,” “help me do it faster,” or “just for once have it work right.” Now buyers are looking for HCM solutions that not only add value to keeping compliant, but provide means of employee collaboration and Social connectivity in the workplace.  They want to deliver knowledge and expertise via contacts in a “just-in-time” “on the job” way.

The “engagement” concept just adds to the selection dilemma for today’s organizations: they, of course, need to make sure they get the software that does what the Company needs done, and they may want to consider new deployment systems – but adding engaging to the list of criteria that may include flexible, Social, Mobile, with embedded analytics — the list just grows!

Here we will share the key criteria and the foremost drivers for change as organizations like yours seek to acquire new software solutions to manage their talent. In the oft-confusing world of talent software solutions, we will share considerations for that decision.
