Day two of the tenth annual Halogen Customer Conference wrapped up on Friday, and what a busy and awesome day it was! The entire event offered up the chance to learn, share, and connect with our brilliant customers.
Here are some of my favorite highlights from the day…
The great Canadian “part-eh!”
Before jumping into day two, I can’t forget to mention the Customer Appreciation Party held on Thursday evening at the beautiful Shaw Centre in Ottawa.
From bull-riding to log-rolling, to hockey slap shots and getting “screeched” in, the party provided customers a taste of “Canadiana.”
And I have to say, some of our customers can bust a move on the dance floor!
Annual Bright Lights awards recognize Halogen customer achievements
Aside from the gourmet poutine bar, one of the best parts of the Customer Appreciation Party was the presentation of the Bright Lights Awards. These awards are given to Halogen customers who have achieved excellence in talent management.
And the 2015 award recipients are… Drumroll please!
- Dazzling Implementation award: Bank of Queensland
- Bright Bottom Line award: Lytx, Inc.
- Brilliant Corporate Culture award: Cabell Huntington Hospital
- Strategic Vision award: Connolly iHealth Technologies, LLC
Congratulations to all! Here are the award winners with Halogen CEO Les Rechan:
Family values and your HR practice
Do your company values set your organization apart? The impact of these values shoots through the roof when you align them with your talent practices. That was the message Kris Dunn delivered in his day two opening keynote presentation:
Kris — who is the CHRO of Kinetix, and the founding editor of the HR blogs Fistful of Talent and The HR Capitalist — challenged attendees to swim against the status quo of corporate values. Instead, Kris shared why organizations need to think about them a lot like they would family values.
Bill Howlett, Manager, Training and Organizational Development for the City of Henderson, shares his key takeaway from Kris’ presentation:
“Kris hit the nail when it comes to why corporate values aren’t always as powerful as they can be. It’s because these values are often disconnected from what’s important to employees. Values then come off as trite or irrelevant. Values that differentiate have meaning to employees and are reinforced in how we attract, retain and reward our people.”
More brilliant customer success stories
Day two featured three more brilliant success stories from our customers:
Kim Ziprik, Manager, Organizational Development for NASCO, LLC shared how her organization transitioned to a high-performance learning organization.
Angelica Klinger, Manager, Total Rewards & HR Systems for MD Financial Management shared why her organization transitioned away from Halogen… then came back 18 months later.
Melanee Landry, Corporate Manager of Talent Development for Cornerstone Healthcare Group discussed how Cornerstone HC ditched paper processes for Halogen in order to develop a strong talent pipeline.
10 things you didn’t know you could do with Halogen TalentSpace
In this session my colleagues Jennifer, Hawley and Evelyn shared innovative ways to use the Halogen TalentSpace™ suite to improve processes, increase manager-employee engagement and help advance organizational performance management programs.
The presentation offered tons of great information on leveraging the Halogen suite to its fullest potential. For instance, did you know you can run non-performance management related processes inside Halogen to centralize and expedite their completion? E.g. electronic sign offs on your organization’s IT usage agreement, employee handbook, vacation purchase plan — the list goes on!
And Jennifer, Hawley and Evelyn shared nine other great tips to help customers make the most of their Halogen investment – definitely a great overview.
The buzz from conference attendees
We love that our customers love this conference!
Denise DePaul, Human Resources Administrator with Precision Medical Products, Inc. shares why she is a returning attendee to the conference:
“This conference provides an opportunity to share what I know with my peers but to also learn from them. The sessions are great of course, but the conference breaks are like mini roundtables where we can network and learn about each other’s Halogen experiences. It’s why I come back each year.”
And we love that our customers keep coming back!
And that’s a wrap, folks!
A huge thank you to the Halogen team who worked hard to put together such a great lineup and to the Shaw Centre for being our gracious host.
And most of all, thanks to our stellar presenters and our brilliant customers who came together to learn, share, and connect with us!
Oh and if you missed it, check out our day one recap.
