Saba Cloud Delivers a People-Centric Approach to Modern Learning and Ongoing Performance

Today, at the HR Technology Conference and Exposition, we announced the latest enhancements to Saba Cloud that support a people-centric approach to modern learning and performance.

At Saba, we're focused on bringing employee development, collaboration, coaching and feedback together in new ways, to help our customers help their people grow and thrive in the new world of work.

I'm excited to share details about these new capabilities in Saba Cloud and how you can leverage them to align, engage and inspire your people to achieve the results that matter to your business.

Modern learning moves the needle on business impact in Saba Cloud

In today's work environment, employees have more freedom than ever before to learn on their own. The modern learning capabilities in Saba Cloud are designed to address this reality. And yet, we at Saba understand you still need be able to track the performance results and business impact of these newer, informal learning experiences.

Our latest release of Saba Cloud enhances micro-learning capabilities, extends gamification support, and provides expanded video and mobile features for customers. These enhancements are in addition to the informal learning innovations released earlier this year with Saba Discovery's User Bookmarklet and learning record store (LRS).

Here is a deeper dive into how you can support formal and informal learning activities in Saba Cloud.

Enable personalized micro-learning experiences

The micro-learning capabilities in Saba Cloud enable employees to contribute and curate short, current and relevant content that can be accessed from anywhere at any time. This micro content can be used to deliver just-in-time training alongside the formal learning content you need to deliver to support the entire digital learning landscape.

Administrators can easily tag any existing content they have as micro-learning and employees can easily find or follow micro-sized topics of interest via tags:

The system also generates a personalized weekly digest for learners with suggested micro-learning content that's consumable in under 10 minutes:

Saba's framework simplifies micro-learning content identification and curation so that your employees can easily find fresh, personalized and easily consumable content where and when they need it.

Enhanced partnership with OpenSesame amplifies value of micro-learning

Today at HR Tech we also announced an enhanced partnership with OpenSesame that further amplifies the value of the micro-learning capabilities in Saba Cloud. As OpenSesame CEO Don Spear states, "The new world of learning means getting relevant, digestible content in the hands of learners quickly, right at the time of need." Through this partnership we can now offer a vast library of mobile and micro-learning content to organizations from within Saba Cloud:

  • A "drag and drop" Saba Marketplace connector lets organizations access thousands of OpenSesame courses, instantly.
  • Customers can browse the OpenSesame catalog and automatically import mobile and micro-ready content into the Saba Cloud platform.
  • In addition, HR and learning leaders can leverage Saba's reporting capabilities to track and analyze the impact of micro-learning on learning effectiveness, and on their business objectives.

Gamification increases learner adoption and team collaboration

Gamification is fast emerging as an effective technique to engage learners. While the focus is always about supporting serious learning, gamification adds a fun and competitive aspect to learning that helps capture your employees' attention.

Saba Cloud's enhanced gamification features bring that fun and friendly competition to your employees' learning experiences. Employees can also get immediate recognition for their learning efforts and acquired knowledge with badges and points.

With the addition of a gamified team-based learning experience, group leaders can now implement gamification features exclusively for their teams, and track progress on team-view dashboards.

Similar to gamification used in wellness challenges, Saba's team-based point and badge system enables employees to compare scores, "compete" with other teams within the organization, and see progress towards learning goals on their personalized "My Rewards" page.

Learning administrators can leverage the analytics to build more strategic gamified learning programs that drive user adoption and a culture of continuous development.

Boosting ongoing performance with enhanced goals, check-ins and competency models

Today, we also announced how we've applied the IP and design principles from Halogen's industry-leading continuous performance management solution to Saba Cloud. HR leaders, managers and employees now have an easier, more intuitive process for goal setting, weighting and management.

Goal weighting and improved goal visibility across teams and projects streamlines performance check-in within the platform. Halogen's rich competency model, skills library and writing assistant are now also delivered as part of the Saba Cloud performance offering.

New Saba customers will find ninety-five skills already populated in their Saba instance along with suggested comments to use when skills are assessed, either with behavioral indicators or proficiency levels. This out-of-the box library will save you time and the expense that comes with creating a library in-house.

In summary, Saba's ongoing performance capabilities help talent strategies evolve to a forward looking and proactive review process centered on the coaching and feedback experience. They also build on the performance foundation and competencies you need to connect to your business goals.

You can create an "always on" channel for feedback so your employees can provide the input they need to feel connected, but also one that gives you business insight into program and performance hot spots before they become problems.
