There is a contagion spreading fast to organizations all over the world: disengagement. And Rick Grimes can’t save you from these zombies.
We know that every organization wants engaged employees. They perform better, stay with organizations longer, and are more likely to go above and beyond. But still, organizations are dumping money into engagement efforts that just don’t work. And that’s leading to poor engagement results, and poor business results tend to follow (and an insatiable hunger for brains).
Imagine your organization was being run by a bunch of slow, uncommunicative, decaying, hungry-for-brains zombies. Would your organization perform? Don’t think so.
So, what do we do? Give these zombies ping pong tables and pizza lunches? Do we send out an annual survey? Not exactly.
Employee engagement largely depends on two things: great managers and employee feedback.
Employees usually leave managers, not companies. And employees feel more engaged when they feel like they have a voice.
