It was an incredible week for Saba and our customer community. We learned so much, got some fantastic ideas to take home with us, had a total blast, and left excited and re-energized. I’d like to send out a special thank you to our remarkable customers for sharing how they’re using our technology to drive talent management transformation.

Striving for perfection limits you
In her session at Saba Insight 2017, Reshma Saujani, founder and CEO of Girls Who Code explained the trouble with always striving for perfection - it’s not the best road to success because it often prevents us from exploring new things, and leaves little room for learning from our mistakes. When we stop expecting perfection, we allow ourselves the opportunity to fearlessly explore, learn and grow. And that’s some pretty powerful advice.

Learning leaders are on an ongoing journey
Also during Insight 2017, Michael Rochelle, Chief Strategy Officer and Principal Analyst at Brandon Hall Group reminded us that for learning and talent leaders, our profession is a journey and not a destination. We’re all purveyors of the employee experience, and by engaging with each other at events such as Insight, we can focus on exploration and discovery, share our experiences and advice with others, find new ideas, and take them home with us to test.
And it was this fearless approach, desire for collaboration and true passion for learning that was on full display all week at Saba Insight 2017. What I personally enjoyed the most was a schedule packed with next practices, tips and advice from some of Saba’s most fearless customers.
Saba Rock Stars session recap
In our “Saba Rock Stars” panel session, I was lucky enough to have some of these talent trailblazers on stage with me, to share their stories and tell us how they were leveraging Saba technology to transform their organizations – from learning to performance to culture and values:
- Paul van Niekerk, General Manager of Technology Solutions for LRMG Performance Agency, used the power of Saba Cloud to create a cultural movement within the organization. He’s using recognition to positively transform the way people work and interact with each other, and celebrate employee achievements, all tied to their organization's core values.
- Yvette Birlew, Director of Learning and Development for Sally Beauty, shared her story of how she used Saba Learning to start a cultural transformation, driving employee engagement and inspiring employees to “THRIVE” through learning and career development. Their next step is reinventing the performance evaluation process. Yvette previewed an incredible video they’re using to internally engage an excite employees around the next generation of performance management at Sally Beauty.
- Sydney Savion, Chief of Education Strategy for Dell EMC Education Services, talked about finding success by continuously testing and adjusting the way learning is presented and consumed at Dell EMC. By delivering learning in more frequent, bite-sized portions, and transforming employee learning to a more familiar visual and experiential framework, Dell EMC is continuing to evolve the learning experience.
