Saba's Centra Live for Virtual Classes Enables Stanford University Online High School for Gifted Students

Redwood Shores, Calif., May 8, 2006 — Saba (NASDAQ: SABA), the premier Human Capital Management (HCM) software and services provider, today announced that The Education Program for Gifted Youth Online High School at Stanford University, will utilize Saba's Centra Live for Virtual Classes software. Centra Live enables the university to deliver live, instructor-led classes to the desktops of and make instructors more broadly accessible to geographically dispersed students.

Developed by Stanford University's Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY), the online high school is a three-year, fully accredited, diploma-granting high school. The program is currently accepting student applications and is scheduled to begin classes in the fall of 2006. The first-of-its-kind virtual high school specifically for gifted students is the result of a $3.3 million gift from the Malone Family Foundation of Englewood, CO.

EPGY expects that the online school will draw gifted students from across the country and around the world. Among those who are likely to be interested are students in rural areas or overseas, students who are being home schooled, students in Title I schools, students who need advanced instruction in a particular subject area, students interested in academic pursuits not covered by the standard high school curriculum, and students who want a more intensive academic program.

"Centra Live, by making it easy to provide real-time, interactive instruction to students anywhere, adds a new dimension to online learning" said Ray Ravaglia, deputy director, EPGY, Stanford University. "Not only does it make the online experience more compelling for students, it also allows us to easily broaden our curriculum."

Since its inception in 1990, EPGY has offered online courses to over 50,000 students. Presently offering over 50 courses to over 4,500 students, EPGY will be significantly expanding its offerings with the creation of the new online high school. Centra's real-time communication capabilities and collaborative tools provide students the interactivity necessary to make courses successful. Moreover, by eliminating the need to produce large quantities of asynchronous material before offering a course, Centra Live has made it possible for EPGY to accelerate its development cycle for new courses.

"Saba is honored to be a part of this groundbreaking education program," said Rick Cramer, vice president, Education Business Unit, Saba. "By extending its education programs beyond the walls of the university, Stanford is proving an unmatched opportunity for students around the world to take advantage of Stanford's highly respected curriculum."
