Saba Learning Suite to Improve Efficiency and Cost-effectiveness of Countywide Training Program
Redwood Shores, Calif., May 1, 2006 — Saba (NASDAQ: SABA), the premier Human Capital Management (HCM) software and services provider, announced today that Los Angeles County, one of the largest counties in the US, has selected the Saba Learning Suite to expand its training and development programs to an estimated 91,000 county employees.
The Saba deployment is part of an initiative to address the county's Strategic Plan for Workforce Excellence. The countywide effort is focused on increasing the performance and productivity of county employees by improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of its employee training programs.
Saba Learning will enable LA County to provide a single, centralized learning platform that will address the training needs of all its employees. The Saba solution will replace the county's existing manual processes with online registration and workflow. Reducing the amount of time spent on administrative tasks like processing course registrations and tracking results will free up the training staff to focus on more strategic functions, such as designing and delivering suitable training programs and evaluating the effectiveness of course offerings.
The Saba solution will also enable training professionals to better track and manage employee certifications and accreditations and help the county remain in compliance with mandated certification requirements. Eliminating duplicate learning systems and deploying a single countywide learning platform will also reduce the county's implementation and ongoing maintenance costs and enable it to run more cost-efficiently.
Although the Saba-based platform will help the county's training organization become more efficient and elevate the quality of the training programs offered, the most attractive benefit to the organization will come from empowering the county's employees to take control of their professional education. The county believes that improving the skills, knowledge and productivity of its employees will ultimately improve the overall quality of its workforce.
"As one of the nation's largest and most diverse counties, LA County has taken a bold step that demonstrates its understanding that managing human capital is a primary objective," said Ray Maskell, president, Saba Public Sector. "Investing in a strategic learning solution across the county will lead to a more skilled and therefore more efficient workforce that will be able to even better serve the people of Los Angeles County."
