IBM and Saba Introduce Thought Leadership Web Event Series

‘Achieving Enterprise Excellence’ Series to Explore Human Capital Management Best Practices

Redwood Shores, Calif., February 14, 2006 — Saba (NASDAQ: SABA), the premier Human Capital Management (HCM) software and services provider, today announced that it will be co-hosting an HCM best practices web event series with IBM. Based on experience with hundreds of IBM and Saba customers, the “Achieving Enterprise Excellence” series is designed to highlight best practices for creating and implementing effective human capital management strategies.

“For large organizations to sustain enterprise excellence, they must harness the potential of their people,” said Mary Kay Vona, global learning executive, IBM business consulting services. “Integrated strategic people management initiatives across the enterprise are critical to shaping behaviors and enabling organizations to respond successfully to today’s ever-changing marketplace.”

In their search for improved performance, successful organizations are looking to integrate their people management processes and technologies. Yet the challenge to coordinate plans and priorities for strategic HCM initiatives across departments, geographies and cultures can be enormous. This six-part monthly Achieving Enterprise Excellence web event series is intended to provide real-world examples and tips to help attendees expand their insights for leveraging convergent learning, performance and talent management capabilities.

“This web event series is the first of its kind to take a comprehensive look at the many facets of strategic human capital management in large companies and provide proven examples of successful integrated HCM strategies,” said Grant Ricketts, vice president of business development for Saba. “We are delighted to work with IBM, one of the most admired companies for HCM strategy and consulting, to create and deliver the series.”

Learning Governance: Making It Work for You
Kicking off the series is the “Learning Governance: Making it Work for You” web event, on February 16, 2006 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm ET. Hosted by Ricketts, this first web event features two guest experts: Korinne Collins, partner, learning & development, IBM business consulting services and Tony O’Driscoll, researcher, strategic value of learning, IBM Almaden services research.

During the event, Collins and Driscoll will share the results of recent executive research conducted by IBM and ASTD, ‘Strategic Value of Learning: Executive Study’. They will also draw on examples of governance models used by IBM and other companies to address such questions as:

  • How do you create an overall governance model to run learning at a large company?
  • What leadership and decision-making processes will drive accountability and accelerate migration?
  • What roles can be more centralized or decentralized? What are the trade offs?
  • What can you learn from the best practices of others?
