Green Policy
Saba is committed to protecting the environment and helping our customers support their own sustainability objectives, while also increasing revenue. The highlights of Saba’s environmental policy include:
- Providing a safe environment for our employees and providing appropriate safety and emergency training and equipment in our offices worldwide.
- Using Saba products to protect the environment. Saba Centra, our web conferencing and virtual classroom tool, has a 13-year track record of helping hundreds of customers worldwide reduce the amount of travel required, which is especially important for companies with a geographically dispersed workforce, partner network, and customer base. Saba uses the Centra tool where possible to avoid travel and reduce our carbon footprint both for internal web conferences and training sessions, and externally with clients and industry analysts. With rising energy cost and a growing awareness of the need to protect the planet, companies worldwide are shifting to web conferencing as a means of minimizing their carbon footprint while also reducing expenses.
- Preserving natural resources by recycling computer equipment, paper, and plastic in our offices.
- Ensuring the responsible use of energy in our facilities. This includes motion-sensitive lighting in our offices so lights only stay on if employees are present. In locations where Saba leases office space, we support the environmental policies of the property management firms (e.g. energy-efficient protective film on windows).
- Working continually to improve Saba’s commitment to the environment by supporting property management firms’ internal energy audits where we lease office space. This includes continuous monitoring of water consumption, electricity, heat, and air-conditioning. Since November 2006 Saba IT has been installing “Energy Smart” hardware globally, and we will continue this path going forward. One of our goals this year is to focus on Server Virtualization architecture to help reduce the number of IT back-end servers by 20%.
